REGISTRATION IS NOW ACTIVE!
2025-2026 Fall/Winter Wavemakers Swim Season
The Lakes Region Wavemakers are excited to announce the 2025/26 season and that registration is now open. We begin our season in September and run through mid-March.
OUR MISSION
We strive to provide a competitive swimming opportunity to area youth of all abilities in a supportive and challenging environment. Coaches, parents and swimmers work to foster the following ideals: sportsmanship, team pride, self-esteem, physical fitness, and commitment to self-improvement, learning & practicing swimming techniques, and having fun. Our swimmers range in age from 5-18 years and abilities from novice to New England Championships level.Practice attendance is flexible! There are no mandatory practices or meets, however the more you participate the more improvement you will see.
PRACTICE AND SWIM GROUPS
Practices will be held most Monday, Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
The Practice groups are broken up into 3 groups detailed below.
Group A 6:00-6:50
Group B 6:00-7:15
Group C 6:00-7:30
(All practice times are evening times)
Groups
Group A: Newer swimmers and younger swimmers (approximately 8 & under). Swimmers must be independent in the water, have taken some swim lessons, be able to put their face in the water, and swim at least 2 lengths of the pool. These practice sessions will offer more one on one attention from the Coach and will focus on teaching proper basic swim techniques.
Group B: Approximate ages 8 to 11. Swimmers must be independent in the water. They should have some experience with the four swim strokes, diving and turning. These practice sessions will focus on refining technique and improving endurance through drills and instruction.
.
Group C: Approximate ages - 11 and up. Swimmers at this level should have a strong swimming ability and focus. These practice sessions will focus on refining technique, improving endurance and encourage strength training and competition improvement.
Regular practices start Tuesday September 16th, 2025 for all swimmers!
There will be a special 45-minute introduction for new swimmers only - new to the team - on Monday, September 15th, from 6:15pm – 7:00pm - see more details below.
FINANCIAL INFORMATION
Tuition
Tuition for the 2025-26 season includes all practice times. Most meets will have fees that the swimmer/family must pay before the meet. Meets fees will be charged to the card on file and there are no refunds for meet fees. Tuition includes practice time at PSU, an end of season banquet, a T-shirt for the swimmer, and team caps for swimmers.
Payment Options:
Option 1 - Pay in Full - $675
Option 2 - Two payments of $350 (total of $700) paid before starting practices and on or before October 15th.
USA Swimming Registration:
The $98 cost for USA Swimming registration is not included in the team tuition fee and is paid by the swimmer/family directly when registering with USA Swimming. Returning swimmers who are already registered and are current up through December will register again in later 2025. (Registration info is below.)
Payment:
All families must provide a credit card that will be kept on file with the SportsEngine website provider. This card will be used to pay registration and meet fees. There will be a 3% fee assessed for each credit-card transaction to cover the cost the team incurs from the SportsEngine management company. For registration only, you will have the option to pay by check. If you choose to use a check instead of a credit card, we ask that you only choose the Pay-in-Full option and not the 2 payments. Please bring the check to the first practice you plan on attending. Credit cards will be used for all meet payments.
The swimmer will not be able to participate in any practices or meets until the account balance is current, registration on the team website is complete including waivers, and the swimmer has registered with USA Swimming.
Additional Fees and Discounts
-
USA Swimming Registration - $98
-
A team suit and good swim goggles
-
Recommended equipment: flippers (many swimmers prefer to have their own pull buoy)
-
Meet Fees - When a swimmer is entered into a meet which requires meet entry and event fees, the family credit card on file will be charged the necessary fees at the time they are registered for the events. These fees are charged by the host team putting on the meet.
General Information for All
Swimmers should not arrive at the PSU field house more than 10 minutes before practice begins - the pool access doors will remain locked until 6:00. Parents will need to be on time to pick up their swimmers and should be present at least by the end of the swimmer’s practice session. Once leaving the pool deck, parents/guardians are responsible for your swimmer and your swimmer’s actions. This is particularly important for younger swimmers who are released earlier before older swimmers. Parents will be given 1 warning if they are late to pick up after practice ends. After the first warning the parent’s account will be charged $15. Parents may stay during practices and can sit up in the pool gallery overlooking the pool. If a parent does not stay in the pool area, please make sure you have cell coverage. It is an expectation that our swimmers always exemplify respectful behavior at all times at PSU and meets. PSU does not generally allow outside organizations to use their facilities, so it is especially important that swimmers are respectful to each other and those around them to ensure our continued use of PSU facilities.
New Swimmer Information
There will be a separate practice session for new swimmers on Monday, September 15th 6:15-7:00. This is a nice quieter introduction without all swimmers being present. Families can complete all of the registrations (listed below) or use it as a trial night. If you choose to try it for a night, a PSU waiver must be completed before attending. Then, before attending more practices, all registrations must be completed including LRW online registration, USA Swimming registration, and LRW fees. If during the first 2 weeks of practices a new swimmer decides not to continue, prorated LRW fees will be returned, but USA Swimming fees can not be returned.
Swimmers can attend as many of the weekly practices that work for your schedule - there are no mandatory number of practices. Meets are also optional and families can attend as many of our scheduled meets as you prefer. Fees for meets are set by the host team and are paid for each meet separately. During practices we focus on learning/improving technique and building stamina and endurance.
We have had swimmers as young as 5, but it’s important that new swimmers can swim at least a couple lengths and know basic rudiments of strokes including putting the face in the water and breathing. We will work on strokes, starts, and turns during practices. While we do work on technique, swim team is not a substitute for lessons for children just learning to swim. We have gatherings throughout the year including an end-of-season banquet. The Lakes Region Wavemakers team is a parent-board run/owned team, and the board meets throughout the season to plan events and order caps and T-shirts.
Equipment
Each swimmer should have good quality goggles. A pair of flippers is highly recommended. Many swimmers have separate suits- a practice suit and a meet suit. Many swimmers have their own pull buoy. There is a section on the website that will have an overview of equipment.
PSU Waiver
***** All swimmers must complete a new Plymouth State College waiver for this year (this includes swimmers who swam at PSU last spring). This must be completed and turned into a coach before a swimmer can start practices. Please print out and complete the form and bring it to your swimmer’s first practice. Please write and sign your name and write your swimmer’s name. Here is the link to the form:

REGISTRATION PROCESS (2 steps)
There are 2 steps to registering for the Fall/Winter Season (Team Registration and USA Swimming Registration). BOTH must be completed before swimmers are allowed to attend practice or sign-up for meets. Each swimmer must also have a signed waiver before practicing - see above for PSU waiver. Please complete the Registration by September 12th. (The only exception to this is if a new swimmer is trying out the team on the first night - September 15th - though a waiver still needs to be completed.)
